  • – Capital Event Conferences bring investors, portfolio managers, brokers, and public companies together.
  • – Face to face meetings and relationship building are still fundamental foundations for investment.
  • – Upcoming Capital Event Conferences include Muskoka and Palm Beach.

The stock market in Canada is burgeoning into new sectors for investors looking to diversify their portfolios. Capital Event Conferences, managed by Capital Event Management (“CEM”), brings investors and public companies together, and the event in Kelowna this year featured many newcomers, specifically within the growing cannabis and blockchain industries. Mainstays in resources, oil & gas, biotech and diversified industries were featured too, and together brought variety to attendees. Neil Currie, Managing Partner and a Founder of CEM notes that the consistent diversity of the participating issuers is what keeps their investors coming back.
These events are about bringing high net worth investors, investment advisors, and small cap fund managers together for a series of 18 one-on-one meetings alongside a weekend full of different networking activities and receptions. This particular event took place in the beautiful Okanagan, the heart of Canada’s wine region.
Why Okanagan in the Middle of Summer is Perfect Timing
When asked about this year’s conference expectations, Neil explains, “Since every event sells out months in advance and each attendee must register, it is easy to expect a high quality event full of top tier investors and exciting investment opportunities.”
The key tenets of CEM’s conference structure is the unique format that allows the attendees to establish long lasting relationships that lead to open market support, financings, and general awareness with key contacts in the investment community across North America and even Europe. Neil insists that the follow up is the key to each event. “We set up the intros, but it’s up to the participants to continue building on the relationships after the fact.”
This is the conference’s sixth year in Kelowna, and it’s been a tremendous success thus far. One of the reasons why this conference is popular is because it’s in the middle of summer. Neil notes, “You really get a lot of people that go away at the beginning of summer, and in the middle, they get a little restless, which makes the prospect of attending an investment conference all the more exciting for them. Summer for the last few years has been busy, and the stock market has performed quite well.”

What’s Next
With the CEM schedule weighted mostly in the first half of the year, there are only two more conferences lined up in the Fall. The Muskoka Capital Conference takes place September 28–30 at the beautiful JW Mariott on Lake Rosseau “Cottage Country.” The last event of 2018 takes place in sunny West Palm Beach Florida at the luxurious Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa November 15–17. These events are the same format as all other CEM conferences, a “speed dating” concept filled with a weekend full of networking.
Included at select CEM events, there is also an opportunity for clients to film a video interview, going over the company’s upcoming goals. Thanks to their media sponsor, Market One Media Group (MMG), these videos will be available for each company to distribute to their investment base and show their investors that their money is hard at work.
Capital Event Management has produced 48 conferences since founded by Neil Currie and Howard Fitch in late 2010. These events have set up tens of thousands of one on one meetings resulting in helping to facilitate over 500 million in capital raises and open market buying.
